Hiring guidelines

The Haven is a shared community space. We ask everyone hiring our facilities to help keep the centre safe, welcoming and ready for others to enjoy.

Your booking

Please agree the purpose of your hire, the facilities required and your booking times with the centre team. Use only the spaces and equipment included in your booking, and contact us promptly if your plans change or you need to cancel.

Your booking agreement will set out the hire charges, payment arrangements and any deposit or cancellation conditions. Please make payments by the agreed dates.

Keeping everyone safe

The hirer is responsible for the activity and those attending. Please follow the centre’s safety instructions, keep fire exits and access routes clear, and report accidents, damage or faulty equipment promptly.

Children must be appropriately supervised. Access to the stage, backstage and other restricted areas must be agreed with the centre team.

Hirers running activities for children or adults at risk must provide the centre team with their safeguarding policy and evidence of relevant Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) checks. This requirement does not apply to private parties for invited friends and family. Please read our Safeguarding policy for further information.

Any electrical equipment brought into the centre must be safe and meet the centre’s requirements.

Looking after the centre

Please treat the building, furniture and equipment with care. Use the hooks provided for decorations; do not attach decorations or signs to walls. Helium balloons are not permitted in the hall.

Only use outdoor areas included in your booking, and stay within the designated boundaries.

Alcohol and smoking

Hirers and guests must not bring their own alcohol into the venue. Please discuss any bar requirements with the centre team.

Smoking is not permitted indoors. Anyone smoking outside should keep entrances clear and dispose of cigarette ends responsibly.

Leaving the space ready for others

Please leave the rooms and any kitchen facilities clean and tidy, return furniture and equipment as instructed, and remove your belongings. Dispose of rubbish in accordance with the centre’s instructions.

Follow the departure arrangements provided, including switching off appliances, lights and heating where instructed, closing windows, securing doors and returning keys.
