Cookie Notice

Last reviewed and updated: 15 October 2026.

1. About this notice

This notice explains how The Haven website uses cookies and similar technologies.

The website is operated by Crawley Down Community Centre CIO, a Charitable Incorporated Organisation registered in England and Wales under charity number 1173791.

Our contact details are:

References to “we”, “us” and “our” in this notice mean Crawley Down Community Centre CIO.

2. What are cookies and similar technologies?

Cookies are small text files placed on a computer, telephone or other device when somebody visits a website. They can help a website operate, remember choices or understand how people use it.

Similar technologies include browser storage, IndexedDB, tracking pixels, scripts and tags. The rules described in this notice apply to these technologies as well as conventional cookies.

3. How we use consent

Technologies that are strictly necessary for the website to work may operate without consent.

We will ask for consent before using non-essential technologies unless a specific legal exception applies. Visitors can accept, reject or choose between the available categories using our consent panel. Rejecting optional technologies will not prevent access to the main website.

Consent can be changed or withdrawn at any time by selecting Cookie settings in the website footer. Withdrawing consent does not affect the lawfulness of processing that took place before it was withdrawn.

4. Technologies used on this website

Essential consent-management cookies

The website uses Complianz to record cookie choices and ensure that optional technologies respect those choices.

Name Provider Purpose Typical duration
cmplz_banner-status The Haven/Complianz Records whether the consent panel has been accepted, rejected or dismissed 365 days
cmplz_consented_services The Haven/Complianz Records choices about individual services 365 days
cmplz_functional The Haven/Complianz Records the functional-cookie preference 365 days
cmplz_preferences The Haven/Complianz Records the preferences category choice 365 days
cmplz_statistics The Haven/Complianz Records the statistics category choice 365 days
cmplz_marketing The Haven/Complianz Records the marketing category choice 365 days
cmplz_policy_id The Haven/Complianz Records the version of the cookie settings presented to the visitor 365 days

These cookies are necessary to remember and respect visitors’ privacy choices. They do not monitor browsing for advertising purposes.

WordPress administration cookies

WordPress may use cookies such as wordpress_test_cookie, wordpress_logged_in_*, wordpress_sec_* and wp-settings-* when an authorised administrator signs into the website.

These cookies authenticate administrators, protect the administration area and remember administration preferences. They are not normally placed on ordinary public visitors. Their duration ranges from the browser session to approximately one year, depending on their purpose.

Display compatibility

WordPress may use session storage under the name wpEmojiSettingsSupports to check whether a browser can display emoji characters correctly. This information remains within the browser and is normally removed when the browser session ends.

Web push notifications

The website contains WonderPush software that can provide optional browser notifications.

WonderPush does not use conventional cookies. If a visitor chooses to subscribe to notifications, it stores an anonymised identifier and notification information in the browser’s IndexedDB storage. The browser also creates a push-notification subscription.

Information associated with a subscription may include:

  • a random installation identifier;
  • the browser and device type;
  • operating system and language;
  • screen characteristics;
  • time zone;
  • notification-subscription status; and
  • dates and times associated with visits or notification activity.

This technology is used only to provide notifications requested by the visitor. The visitor must approve the browser’s notification request before notifications can be sent.

A visitor can unsubscribe using the notification controls in their browser. WonderPush also provides instructions for deleting notification data from its systems. Its published default is to remove inactive installations after 90 days, although an active browser subscription may continue until it is withdrawn.

Further information is available in WonderPush’s data documentation.

Brevo newsletter form

The website uses Brevo to process newsletter registrations. The form sends information to Brevo only when a visitor completes and submits it.

At the date of this notice, we do not use the Brevo website-tracking service to monitor general browsing activity. Newsletter registration and the use of submitted personal information are explained in our Privacy Notice.

If Brevo tracking is enabled in the future, we will update this notice and obtain any consent required before activating it.

Calendar and advertised events

The room and activity calendar is displayed within The Haven website. The calendar integration did not place a separate third-party tracking cookie during our review.

Selecting an advertised event opens information supplied by The Haven. Any external booking link is identified as a link to another organisation.

Google reviews and Facebook

Our Google rating is updated by the website in the background. The public rating strip does not embed Google Maps or Google Reviews and does not place Google cookies on a visitor’s device.

The website currently links to Facebook rather than embedding a Facebook feed. It therefore does not place Facebook cookies merely because somebody views a Haven webpage.

Google, Facebook or another external organisation may use cookies after a visitor chooses to follow a link to its website. That organisation’s own cookie and privacy information will then apply.

Room-booking portal

Links to the room-booking portal take visitors to a separate website. The portal may use its own cookies to provide bookings, security and payments. Its own cookie and privacy information applies once the visitor opens the portal.

5. Analytics and advertising

We use Google Analytics 4 to understand how people find and use the public website and to improve its content and performance. Subject to consent, it may collect information about pages viewed, interactions, approximate location, referring websites, and browser and device type.

Name Provider Purpose Typical duration
_ga Google Analytics Distinguishes visitors so website usage can be measured 2 years
_ga_<measurement-ID> Google Analytics Stores and counts page views and maintains session information for this Analytics property 2 years

The property-specific cookie name contains the website’s Google Analytics measurement identifier. These cookies are set only after analytics consent.

Google Analytics is disabled until you consent to analytics cookies. You can accept or reject analytics cookies, and withdraw consent at any time, through Cookie settings in the website footer. Refusing analytics cookies does not prevent you from using the website.

We do not use Google Analytics for behavioural advertising. We do not use Meta Pixel or Brevo’s website-tracking service to monitor general browsing activity. Our Privacy Notice explains the personal information involved. User-level and event-level analytics data is configured for deletion after 14 months; aggregated reports that no longer identify an individual may be kept for longer.

If advertising or an embedded social-media service is introduced, or our use of analytics changes materially, we will:

  • assess whether consent or a statutory exception applies;
  • update this notice;
  • configure the consent panel appropriately; and
  • obtain fresh consent where required.

6. Browser controls

Most browsers allow users to inspect, block and delete cookies or website storage. Blocking essential cookies may affect website functions.

Browser notification permission is controlled separately. Visitors can use their browser settings to block or remove The Haven’s notification permission.

7. Changes to this notice

We will review this notice when website services change and as part of our regular data-protection review.

The date at the top shows when it was last reviewed. If we introduce a materially different non-essential technology, we will seek fresh consent where required.

8. Questions and complaints

Questions about this notice or our use of website technologies can be sent to:

Further information about personal information and data-protection rights is available in our Privacy Notice.
